Title: Ghost 9.0 restore from USB on Win XPSP2

Re: Symantec Norton Ghost 9.0 on MS XP SP2 (Home Edition) using USB drive.. has anybody out there actually done a FULL SYSTEM RESTORE from USB, and if  so were there any problems?
I have been using Norton Ghost to backup from C:\ to D:\ on 2 IDE drives for years with no problem, but thinking that a REMOVABLE drive would be a smart idea for obvious reasons. Symantec docs are a bit vague about USBs, and from what I read there is some problem with drivers; if you have encountered and/or got round these, what drivers/discs
did you use?

I have done several FULL SYSTEM RESTORES from internal HDDs mounted in external enclosure kits - via USB 1.1, USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, SATA-to-SATA, and IDE HDD/SATA bridge-to-SATA port. USB 2.0 has worked flawlessly for me whenever NEC-compliance for USB both host controllers and USB device controllers has been assured, but spottily when not.

CLICK HERE for an account of a dramatic Norton Ghost 2003 Restore via USB 2.0.

CLICK HERE for commentary on external host controllers and external device controllers of all sorts.

Are you considering an external HDD, or do you already have one?

:D Hey thanks, that's just the sort of stuff I need

Later...
:-[ aargh! me motherboard chips only run to USB 1.1. Yes I had hoped to have an exteral HDD but 1.1 would be too damn slow to deal with all those GB's, and I don't want any spottiness like you say.... thanks anyway. So this'll have to wait for my next PC.

Later still....
8) Yeah but I can get a backwards-compatible USB 2.0 card so I can use my 1.1 things on it, and a USB 2.0 external HDD as well ... this calls for more thought/experiment.
