But, at least on this morning's forum home page, he's listed twice as an *Ex Member* for two threads shown there.

It shows reply #7 of 7, but, that thread only has 6 replies.

It happened to me recently. I was an Ex Member.

When Rad deletes a spam post the member who posted above the spam post becomes an Ex Member. But only for that post.

Oh, good observer!

I have never looked back at the threads from which I have *removed* spam--I always *move* the offensive post.  But, I think Rad often *deletes*.

So let the testing begin--next post will be a test post for deletion.....

Well, that didn't seem to work.  I deleted my last post--it's gone, but I did not get listed as an *Ex-Member*.

So, I'll try another angle....

Well, my second post is now deleted, but I'm still not an *Ex-Member*!

Brian, post a response showing you saw may last three posts.

Then post a test post saying that it is for *test deletion*.

Let me delete it and see if your next to last post lists you as an *Ex-Member* once again.

Thanks Brian--I deleted your second post--but, you did not become an *Ex-Member*!

So, the mystery remains ... for now...

I'm pretty sure it is--but, so far I can't reproduce it!

I think for *U Look Like U Saw A Ghost*, it looks like it happened when Christer *moved* two spam posts to the *Recycle* folder on Feb. 13.

Did you *Ban* and/or *Delete as members* the two spammers whose postings you moved to the Recycle folder on Feb. 13. 

Someone must have *Deleted* them, because they are now shown as *Ex-Members* in the Recycle folder.

It would be helpful to know what the sequence of events were that lead to their *Ex-Member* status--i.e. were they moved to the Recycle folder first, banned first, or deleted as members first--and what happened in what order.

If we can figure out what sequence lead to *U Look Like U Saw A Ghost* being listed as an *Ex-Member*, even though he's not actually in that category, maybe we can figure out how to reproduce that *bug*.

In both cases, I banned both the username and email-addy but I didn't ban the IP-addy. Next, I deleted the member. Maybe over worked but they can't come back with the same details.

I remember reacting on "U Look Like U Saw A Ghost - Ex Member" but I don't remember if it was before or after moving those posts.

Did you move the spam posting to the Recycle folder before or after you deleted the spammer?

The first action taken was to move the post to the Recycle Bin. Next, I banned the username and email-addy. Finally, I deleted the member.

Followed your sequence exactly and you are now listed on the main forum homepage as an *Ex-Member*--but, of course you are listed above as you should be--a member in *good standing*!

There's definitely a *bug* in this version of the forum software.

When you follow Christer's sequence of first moving an offending post to the Recycle folder, then banning the user name and email address, and finally *deleting* the spammer--then the last member to have posted in the thread from which the now deleted member was move from becomes listed as an *Ex-Member* on the forum's Homepage.

This *Ex-Member* listing does not show up in the actual last post by that member located in the thread itself--or any posts by that member that is now listed as an *Ex-Member*.

And, I suspect that *Ex-Member* listing does not show if the thread itself is not the last (most recent) post for other threads--i.e. if other threads have occurred since the thread that had the deleted member removed from, then the forum software will list the most recent posted thread/posting and no such *Ex-Member* will be shown, because the most recent thread wasn't the thread from which the spammer was moved from.

Now, half an hour later, I can't find the spot where I was labeled an "Ex".

I 1st noticed my "Ex Member" status last Sunday the 12th.

Yup!  Your listing was only on the home page of the forum.  And as soon as I posted my reply #15 above--I then became the *last poster* to this thread, and you no longer appeared on the homepage.

So, you only see the *Ex-Member* on the home page if you or others do not post to that thread.

But, someone put a spam post just after your last post.  When that spam poster was deleted--because you were the last poster in that thread, and there were no other posts made that were newer, and no threads were started that were newer--you were the last poster of record, and your thread was the most recent one--so it gets displayed on the main home page which shows all the forums and the most recent posting.

Under the above special circumstance, that last poster of a spammed thread that has the spammer member deleted--that last poster of that thread gets the *Ex-Member* shown on the homepage until a new post occurs.

Sorry Nightowl, you are correct, that is my thread.

In addition, looking at the link, my last post was December 12 2011.

on the home page last week, it reported my last post as today, ie, February 12 2012.

Thus mistakenly saying it wasn't me, as I wasn't on the forum at the time stated on the home page.
