Hi,
Just looked up the php page
found the correct date
but incorrect local time.
A summertimeproblem that should
be over next sunday ?

That page grabs the date based on Greenwich Mean TIme (GMT), in Greenwich, England, which is a reference for world time. I do not know if it corrects for local 'daylight savings times'.

That thing with dategrabbing makes sense to me.
But how is the local time acquired ?
It cannot be my computer time because it is
different from the time shown on the downloaded
page.

Local time *isn't* acquired. It grabs GMT.

I am sorry for my LL :)
I am so close to GMT that I assumed it is
local time - wintertime or something.
Why does it  display GMT ?
As we are about 9 hours apart - GMT
doesn't mean anything for both of us.
Did I miss anything ?

The page is not designed to return your local time. There are many sites & utilities designed for that specific purpose. The page is merely the result of an exercise to become familiar with programming PHP code. My web hosting provider supports PHP, so I've decided to learn how to use it. I've been using this book:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1861003730/qid=1017284026/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_71_1/002-5499065-0284834

That particular page was my first-ever venture into the world of PHP programming.

Thanks for the link -
When I opened the first page on radified.com
I was impressed by the amount of links
on one page. Because it is the essence
of the internet to link and link and link  :)

The hyperlink represents a new mode of communication. Unlike conventional printed text, hypertext is not limited by a linear model. A single link can open up a whole new world.

It took me a few weeks of writing web pages before I began to insert links as a natural course of action. Now I find myself actually *thinking* in terms of hyperlinks, and insert them as I go.

I read Jakob Nielsen's book on Web Usability:

http://useit.com/jakob/webusability/

He claims that you should pepper your text with outbound links supporting your points and to show readers that you've done the necessary research. He says that this lends credibility to your work.

I also like to have fun with my links. For example, in the Ghost guide, where I talk about scaling the 'steeper slopes' of the learning curve, I inserted a link to Half Dome mountain in Yosemite National Park .. a very steep slope indeed.
