Is there any comment on how this list come about ?

You surely have one personal list.

Oh, I occasionally make reference to my "official recommended list," but that's that's merely a web master's poetic license. I've have never actually sat down and compiled one.  :-/

I began once, but never finished. Films are so subjective. The very same film that I like, you might hate, and vice versa. It even depends on moods. I once saw a film that I loved at the theaters (Out of Africa), but hated on VHS at home.

At one time, my best harbinger of a good movie was using the critics' reviews as an inverse guide: if they liked it, I hated it, and stopped going to their recommended films. If they panned it, it trurned out to be a good movie, and I began seeing everyone they dismissd. But lately, either the critics are getting better or I am getting worse.  :D

Someday I'll post my list, but until then, I just comment on the films I see while trying not to spoil them for ppl who haven't seen them yet. Wendy prefers to know *nothing* about a movie when she sits down with her popcorn.

Thats where I store my info on viewed
movies. After getting all my VHSs labeled
I had to get them on a databank.
It is possible to vote on any film you want
and so I managed to make my private
top 10 marked list.

Critics according to François Truffaut are a pain
in the a.. and he was one super critic. So I don't
pay much attention to them.
Have you read -I was going to put a link here to-
his most famous book: Mister Hitchcock, wie haben Sie das gemacht?german title-but I couldn't find the english title on AmazonBook.
I can't believe it - there is no translation of his original
french book into english! And I can't find the french original either.Only on Amazon.de they are offering the german version.

François Truffaut . They talk about all Hitchcock films in detail.
A must for any film lover I was going to write.
I see Wendy knows how to enjoy a new film.

I'd venture to say that not many ppl know the name Truffaut. You seem to know more about cinema that the average viewer.

My purpose for posting a representative sample of movies that I like was so that readers could better judge if they might enjoy a current movie that I comment on. If they liked the same list of movies that I like, then chances are that they'd also enjoy a current release that I enjoyed .. and more importantly, could save themselves the angony of sitting thru a sucky movie that I sat thru.

Yes, some movies simply need to be seen at the theater. Wendy says that most movies should be seen at the theater .. because of the 'group' effect.

Run Lola Run .. yes, very different from your average film. We like that one.
