I'm new to the forums here but I've been a visitor to the site for 3 or 4 months. Just like to offer a "thumbs up" to rad on the excellent information available here.
That said, I recently upgraded from a Seagate Cheetah 10K drive to a Seagate X15. For a week or so I was debating what to do with the 10K when I decided to daisy chain it and keep my pagefile on it. Whoah! The X15 sped the system up quite a bit but running the pagefile on a separate drive really got things moving. My wifes PC is IDE and I just happen to have an extra 10GB IDE drive laying around so I tried to same thing with her system. It improved performance but not as much as it did with mine. So, if you have an extra drive that's not being used, this might be something you'll want to try. |
