Title: Amelie
Post by alilip on Apr 14th, 2002 at 9:36pm
Hallo Rad
>Saw the movie Amelie last night. It was painfully bad. French film with sub-titles.<
I feel sorry for both of you because you missed a lot.
Well I don't speak french but at least the do proper
synchronisation in Europe.
I watched it in German - no problem - a fairy tale for
adults.
BTW I tried for years to get a sync film (english or german)
of JOJIMBO  and the 7Samurai. Not possible.
Only Japanese with subtitles they offer.
I pass - I can't stand subtitles either. :(

I never liked sub-titled films .. u miss too much of the film while reading the subtitles. Might as well get the book.

We ordered a French DVD from Amazon.com once, but were disappointed to see that it contained only *French* subtitles. I later saw the movie (The 400 Blows) with a girl from France, who read and translated the (French) subtitles (with a French accent). *That* was cool (translating with French accent, not the movie).

Films are so subjective .. to not only personality and whim, but also moods and taste. The same film that I love you might hate, and vice versa.

I don't TRY TO like or dislike a film. If I like it, then I like it. If not, there's nothing I can do to change my mind. I just call it like I see it. I know that many good things were said about Amelie  at the Academy Awards (to my utter amazement).

I share my movie-going experiences so that others, with tastes similar to mine, might benefit from my enjoyment (or pain) ofa particular movie.

You reading the archives?

I am hooked to this site and sit
too many hours in front of my Vision Master Pro17.
My eyes are  :'( when I sleep because opening them
in the morning has become a problem.
Maybe I should ask Wendy's eyedoctor what to do. ;)
