Title: Ghost Speed Writing to CD-R's,RW's ?
Post by jimbo1 on Apr 27th, 2002 at 9:24am
Just finished writing 15gig to CD-RW's. Took 12 hours. What determines how fast Ghost writes? I have an 8x4x32. I was using 1x4 CD-RW's. If I used high speed CD-RW's or CD-R's, will Ghost write faster?   Used FAST compression. Thanks, jimbo1

i don't burn images, so not sure.

12 hours? sounds like something is wrong.

ghost should write at the burners max speed (hard drives are way faster than burners).

if u get an extra cheap hard drive & install it in you system, you'd be done in less than an hour.

Got a Plextor 40x12x40 and used 32x CD-r's. Copied about 16 gig in 4 plus hours. I also use a backup hard drive but I wanted a hard copy. I wonder if there is any way to regulate the speed of the Ghost copy. I'll ask Symantic. They are getting pretty good at answering technical questions via email if you give them enough information. It would be nice to have a feature like in Nero where you can regulate the speed.

u can always write your ghost images to a hard drive, and then burn the images from there (in windows, not ghost) .. just make sure you split them up so that none is larger than 640mb, so they each will fit on a cd.
