Title: Onboard SCSI
Post by yakimasy howze on May 27th, 2002 at 1:23pm
I have a soyo D6IGA Mainboard with onboard scsi - I need to get a 68 pin u2w drive, but was wondering if I need terminators for this or can I just hook it up with a 68 pin cable.

thanks

is that an u2w controller?

you should probably buy a u3w drive, cuz u2w drives are old now. and u3w drives will work fine with u2w controllers (backward compatible).

I am looking for a used 9.1GB for price - any suggestions?

MY board specs are at http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=80

the adaptec u2w is one of the most popular of all scsi controllers. you should have no trouble getting something to work with it.

i like the maxtor/quantum atlas 10K III, 10Krpm. Can't go wrong with that drive.

check out hypermicro for good deals.

you can even use the 15Krpm seagate cheetah x15-36lp, which is the world's fastest drive .. for not much more cash. i own both these drives and can easily recommend either.
