Title: Bankers were hiding loans ? Post by alilip on Jul 23rd, 2002 at 10:04pm
Hallo Rad
I looked up BBC and found this story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2147426.stm digging into more http://www.moreover.com I followed this headline : Chase, Citi Sold Others Enron-Style Deals see http://money.iwon.com/jsp/nw/nwdt_rt_top.jsp?cat=TOPBIZ&feed=bus&src=202§ion=news&news_id=bus-n23148173&date=20020723&alias=/alias/money/cm/nw Summing it up ( please correct me if I am wrong): Those bankers borrowed money in such a way that the borrowers could hide them from analyst , shareholders etc? They were helping them to fake balancesheets ? ??? |

Anything to do with Enron, shady execs or stock prices is a bad subject these days. Many ppl have lost a lot of money due to these scandals .. and seems like the financial carnage is only accelerating. And nobody wants to get out of the market, cuz they feel that the moment they sell, the market will rebound.
Rad advice #1: Buy low, sell high (the market is low right now). Rad advice #2: The trnd is your friend (the market is still trending downward). |

Sorry I mixed up borrowing and lending -
your advice is OK but when things like fraud happen in big business how can you judge ? Where are the timebombs of irregularities hidden. On the above links they said 10 companies used the same trick as Enron by using these 2 big banks. :-[ What about the copycats at other big banks. :-/ |

the bottom line is that nobody knows for sure, at least not the average investor .. which makes the market so speculative .. which is why it needs to generate some type of financial rewards for its investors (capital appreciation, dividends, etc.) .. or they will take their money and run .. which is what's been happening for the last couple of years.

Shocking details on a BBC Q&A section :o
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2148534.stm Enron is gone but the fallout will hit the banks and lawsuits will follow. Dark future for those banks. :-/ |

Well these are only the things we read about :-[
I bet you don't know about Innsbruck where the Austrian Inlandrevenue office were taking bribes at a rate of 50% of taxrevenue. Not one or two inspectors - no the whole department >:( Or Deutsche Telekom is accused of issuing bills that are on average 20% too high. Standard practice >:( I think I will go to the movies :) |
