In the all-important quest for knowledge, how was Van Helsing?

I enjoyed it. We went Friday night. I went with Nick. He's 11 years old & gave it two "awesomes".

It won't win any awards, and I wasn't crazy about their casting for dracula. the vampireseses were hot. the theater was packed. i think they needed to "cook" the script a little more. It felt rushed, like all the details were not well thought out. The special effects were excellent.

my favorite is still francis ford coppola's "bram stoker's dracula":

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103874/

the book is also excellent.

I agree.

I'm new by the way, as if my RadNoobie status were not quite indicative enough :D

Bram Stoker's Dracula is based on literature and I think Coppola does a fine job of honoring that.

Van Helsing had more of a comic book feel and if that is what was expected upon walking into the theatre then the movie was money well spent.

If it was true horror being sought then disappointment was certain to ensue.

If nothing else, at least half of the film features a tight trousered, loosely coiffured Kate Beckinsale virtually bursting out of her bodice... and a man can't argue with that.

Neither, actually.  :)

To make a very short story incredibly long, it's a nickname that was coined by a friend of mine that refers to my favorite writer, Williiam Shakespeare. In college I read him almost exclusively and my friends would rarely miss an opportunity to rag on me about it. I could scarcely spend an evening without  hearing the words.."hah, d*ckhead's reading Snakespit again."

Perhaps not as cool as you expected, but nothing in life ever is right?  ;)

Bummer.

Raiders of the Lost Ark it's not...

... but close :D

BTW, you ACTUALLY understand Shakespeare??  WOW!

Well sure...

If you strip away the language issue it's just like any other story (only some are much better).

The hardest part about Shakespeare is the format. I think he'd still be on the best seller list today if he'd written in narrative format versus writing dialog for plays.

Get a cliff's notes (to decode the anons and thithers) sometime and try one out.

You'll like it!

I'll look for a Cliff's notes the next time I'm in a bookstore.

Bummer again, cuz now I can't ask you what Snake spit tastes like  :D :o :P :-X

Why do you assume that I don't know what it tastes like? Just because my user name is derived from a source different than you expected does not mean that I have no experience in serpent licking and/or serpent tasting now does it?

Perhaps my favorite past time is peeling rattlesnakes like bananas and running my tongue up and down the exposed muscle tissue pursuant to my taking the first delicious bite.

Perhaps I am such a conniseur of snake flesh that I have, in my kitchen, a special box where I keep my most savory snake roasting recipes.

Perhaps I can rattle off the subtle differences and nuances of the bodies and flavors of all snake salivas like an expert taster of fine wine.

You just never know.

;)

[glb]Perhaps I should never assume anything about folks with exotic user names :D[/glb]
