Rad,

On 02 Jan 05, you gave a link to forevergeek, which I used to looked up what he said on the 26th Dec. He had another link there to this site, which I proceeded to email to my son.

http://windowssecrets.com/041202/#top1

I just received the following reply from him:

"I just went there, and then went to a site he recommends for CPU optimized builds of Firefox.  DL'd the M2 one for my processor, copied it all into the Firefox directory, and WOW!  I've never seen such speed on the Internet before!  Too fast!  Pages literally explode into view."

He is one happy camper right now!  ;D

So glad you give the links you do...  mucho thanks  8)

ps... The last time I looked, you had fixed the step in my LPT connection just fine,  in your guide. (in reference to those PM's way last summer  ::) )

Yeah, most tweaks are marginal at best. It's rare to find tweaks that make noticeable or dramatic differences.

What processor does he have?

Well, of course, I had to try it myself. Got my M3 here:

Yeah, pages open in a flash, especially ones containing larger files, such as graphics, like these:

Pretty impressive, actually.

I emailed my son about his processor... here is his reply:

"I have an old XP 1700+ and 512MB RAM.  Not impressive by today's standards, but every little tweak can make big differences in performance."

He is running XP Pro as his OS.

I'm really back in the 'dark ages' with my system... W98se, 256mb RAM, Epox ep-8kta+ and 800mhz AMD Thunderbird proc.  And it's still faster than I am  ;D
