Thx. Hadn't seen that. If one person died and 19 were injured, it was more than a bump. Somebody screwed up. Somebody will get fired.

I had a buddy who was on the USS George Washington on 09.April.1981 when it hit the Japanese freighter Nissho Maru while surfacing in the China Sea, sinking the freighter.

My buddy had less than a month to go before getting out (which he eagerly anticipated). At the impact, he said he thought he was going to die with less than a month 'til freedom. =)

Altho the sub suffered only minor damage to its sail, 2 Japanese crew members were killed, and others had to be rescued from the water. They canned the captain.
