Title: Problem Saving .gho File
Post by NowWheredIPutThat on Apr 29th, 2005 at 11:56am
Hello All,

I'm attempting to ghost my laptop's harddrive to a mapped network drive. I'm experiencing a protocol problem I believe, but I don't really know enough about networking to troubleshoot the problem. Also, this is my first time using Ghost. Any assistance anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Laptop description:
IBMThinkpad 600x running WIN98SE
NIC - Xircom REM56G-10/100 PCMCIA Card

Network Protocols
IPX
IPX/SPX
TCP/IP

When using Ghost 2003 everything seems to go correctly, when creating a backup of my drive, to the point where Ghost prompts that my system will be restarted in DOS.

I get an error message indicating 'A card not detected in the selected slot. Press any key to continue...'

When I press a key, I get the message
'NET:5733 The protocol manager has reported an incomplete binding'.

For more information type NET HELP 5733
the REQUESTER service is not started.
Is it OK to start it? (Y/N) [Y]

When I enter Y and press ENTER, it responds.
'ERROR IN LOADING - Press F1 to continue.'

Can anyone give me guidence on resolving this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I'm using Ghost 2003. Is their different versions of this product?

Anyway, I've uninstalled/re-installed the application. I'm trying to save my .gho file to a mapped drive. I get an error in the GhostStartError.txt file saying
Exception code: Oxc0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION.

I'm logged in with Administrtor's rights. When I configured Ghost I had to choose a driver. I selected the packet driver, as the mapped drive is a Windows server. The other driver choice was NDIS which I guessed would have been correct if the mapped drive was in our Novell environment. Can anyone lend some guidence?

Thanks
