Title: Image size/ compression Post by ckcc on Oct 20th, 2005 at 1:25pm
My C: drive is 15 gig total with 7.3 gig used, and my Ghost images with fast compression are 3.4 gig. Over %50 compression. I only have Win XP and programs on it, Documents are on another partition. This seems to be much greater compression than I've seen most people report in this forum. I have restored several images already and all works fine. I was just wondering what compression rates other users are getting. Could it be that because they are mostly small system and text files that they compress easily?
OK, my sons puter is 9 gig used, and 6.3 gig Images. around %70 compression. He has lots of games on his. Any thoughts on this? |

Where is your swap file located? How big is it? Not all files are saved to an image--from Norton Ghost™ User’s Guide, page 69: Quote:

??Using GHOST 90 ?I cloned my drive onto a new drive for the purpose of booting the PC in case of a catastrophic failure to the existing drive . I then swapped the cables so the cloned drive is the primary. Windows 2000 PRO boots but stopped because there is no pagefile on the cloned drive. How do I get passed this?

Hi Brian
Thanks for responding. I signed on originally as guest. I am the person having the problem. Any ideas. I tried coming up in safemode and encountered the same issue. I think my file system is NFTS which according to a previous post , GHOST should have created an empty placeholder for pagefile. I am tried looking for pagefile.sys on the original drive, but can't find it. Perhaps it is hidden |
