Title: Move files from 2000 to XP
Post by dpb510 on Jan 14th, 2006 at 1:24pm
Hey!
I have 2000 pro and XP installed on the same HD in separate partitions. Most of my programs are on 2000.
Is it possible to mv programs from 2000 into XP?

And since the virus, spyware files are on 2000. Are these files working while I'm online while in XP?

Thanks for any info

Yes.  In Windows XP you can see the other partition even though it is not active.
My Comptuer, right click.
Manage
Maximize the window
Disk Management

You should see both partitions listed, but only one of them (the xp one) should have c:  listed with a drive letter.

You could highlight/select the Windows 2000 partition, right click, and look at the options.  One should be to assign a drive letter to it or mount it so you can then use Windows Explorer to copy/move data files from it to the other.  You would have to re-install any programs though.

I doubt it.  But if you suspect viruses, spyware on the 2000 partition, it's best to fix it and/or delete it.
