Title: Ghost 10 error message: Unexpected VSS provider
Post by dave_cal on Feb 27th, 2006 at 12:05pm
I was wondering if anyone else gets this error message after doing a Manual Recovery Point backup in Ghost 10
After it finishes, it says...
"Manual recovery point completed successfully.
Info 60BBo161: Unexpected VSS provider error.
 See application event log"

When I check the Log it tells me pretty much the same thing.
Everything appears to be OK and seems to be working...
This happens every time... D
???

Dave, can you verify the image in the Recovery Point Browser after you see the error?
Do you get the error if you write the image to your internal HD?
Do you get the error after a scheduled backup?

Do any of these links help?

http://www.google.com/search?q=Unexpected+VSS+provider+error

Looks related to Volume Shadow copy.  Have you checked to see that you have all Windows Updates, especially .NET updates?

Also look in your Sytem and Application event logs for clues
My computer/right click/manage/event viewer

Brian,,,The answer is yes to all three. It's as though nothing is wrong, otherwise everything is working fine... D

Now going to check out Johns remarks...

John...Have checked the links and unfortunately they don't mean a lot to me.
Then I checked the MS Updates, and there was a rather large .net update available, about 23mb worth.
Have installed same so we'll see what happens now.
Also checked in the event logs and there were a number of errors recorded there, including the Ghost errors... D

Dave, if you haven't already, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling Ghost 10.
