Title: Ghosting between slightly different platforms Post by slomo on Aug 31st, 2006 at 10:54am
I'm new to the whole Ghost world so excuse me if this is a novice question but I couldn't find any information on it yet. I am building a turnkey application. My desire is to image the disk and then use that image so I can deploy the system to several other machines. I want to capture everything, OS & applications. I assume if all the target systems have identical hardware then this method is good. What if the target hardware is not identical? For example, I make the image off a Dell Inspirion 5150 and the target is a Dell Latitude. (lets assume the target disk size is sufficient). If I can make this happen for dis-similiar hardware, please provide any insights I might need to do so. This is all for an XP world if that matters. I do have the same basic question for Linux too.

if they're identical, you're phat.
if not, see the bottom of this page: http://ghost.radified.com/ghost_3.htm where it says: "Restoring Image to/from different PC" ask more questions if you have them. |
