Symantec Debuts Norton 360 Beta

The service provides anti-virus and anti-spyware protection, anti-fraud features, automated backup and restore, and computer tune-up tools, and is designed to run more or less unattended when the PC is idle.

Thanks John. It has "everything" but a Ghost component but is compatible with Ghost.

Symantec has not set the price for Norton 360, and continued Wednesday to promise a release before the end of March.

what prgm is it using to do its "automated backup & restore"? (sounds a lot like ghost)

Just guessing, but probably Norton Save & Restore.

Looks like Norton 360 is to compete with (or to supplement) Windows Vista built in backup for Business and Ultimate versions.

Also to compete with Windows OneCare.

Unless I misread the details, there is no imaging backup function. Just files and folders.

I was referring to this:

"automated backup and restore"

Do we have more details?

Looks like the backup function is to either local or to online storage.  I found some more info under System Requirements:

Important: Norton Ghost and Norton Save and Restore can coexist with Norton 360. However, if you have any other existing Norton products running, such as Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus, you'll need to uninstall those products to participate in the beta. After the beta test period, be sure to reinstall your Norton products so you'll continue to have Norton's award-winning protection.

Ghost4me, what do you know about the online storage option that Symantec is including with Norton 360?

Have you tested this?

Thanks!

No, I don't have any personal experience with Norton 360.
