Title: I Give Up on NSR
Post by adeptblue on Feb 3rd, 2007 at 5:48pm
Won't recognize my IOMagic ATAPI USB DVD [ says it is a 'Read-Only' device]
    {Error E8F1C42 F:\ is a CD-Rom or DVD-Rom Drive}

Won't write to my USB Hard Drive either
    {EBAB03F1: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error}

Message said might not be enough room. Backup is 17 gb. Free space on drive is 25 gb

NSR said to run CHKDSK. 4 1/2 hours later NO ERRORS
No other program has trouble with the drive.

Any ideas ??

Where can I get a copy of Ghost 2003 [ preferably cheap ]

You already have on hand a "cold-imaging" Ghost product (Version 8.2) that runs in a Windows Preinstalled Environment.  Check the threads below for details:

adeptblue,

Can you write a backup image (recovery point) to an internal HD? Some people have been able to do this (when they can't write to USB external HDs) and then copy it to the external HD. Not really satisfactory I know. I don't write directly to external HDs.

Ghost has problems writing to several DVD drives. Mine doesn't work either. Most here suggest writing the image to an internal HD first in 4480 MB splits and then copying these files to DVD with Nero etc. This is much faster than direct writing to DVD.
