Title: Getting to new-forum post/thread from old forum UR Post by Rad on Mar 26th, 2007 at 4:52pm
Should be obvious, and it's becoming painfully obvious me as I dial in links in the guide to reflect locations of the new-forum's posts/threads .. but .. if you have the URL for a post/thread at the old forum, you can (easily?) get to the same post/thread at the new forums by copy-n-pasting the post/thread number into the following (partial) URL .. like so >>>
Say, for example, you have the URL for the following post regarding Norton Ghost 12: http://radified.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.cgi?board=general;action=display;num=1171883635 You can get to the same post at the *new* forum by using the following action: http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1171883635 See the pattern? They both use the post number (num=1171883635) So you simply copy-n-paste the post number into this partial URL: http://radified.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl? .. and voila! You get the same post at the new forums. Here it is withOUT the link: Code:

I updated the FAQ's. Noticed one other *nuance* that could be added here:
When changing an old url that referred to a different thread page and starting post, the OLD url looked like: ...display;num=1234567890;start=15#24 To modify this to the NEW url format, it should look like this: ...yabb.pl?num=1234567890/15#24 |

Yeah, I noticed that, too, and have been making the change, altho it still seems to work with the old format (start...)
