Title: New forum font colors
Post by Ghost4me on Apr 17th, 2007 at 9:04pm
When looking at any of the boards, there are 4 icons with text on the right of each one.

They are:  Start New Topic, Create Poll, Notify of Replies, and Mark Topics as Read.

The problem is that the text for these 4 items are black over a dark grey background.  Any way to make the text a more readable color?

the text is part of a new option i tried called "Icons + Text",which nobody seems to like, and i was going to do away with .. revert back to "Icons-only".

Yes.

The option of icons+text is fine, but most board text is yellow-orange or white which displays nicely.  Just surprised that black on grey is used.

Me too.

Orange is used for links.

I suppose we could find a way to tweak it (NightOwl has been routing around in the guts of the style control module), but most don't seem to like the (added) text.

The problem is that many of the readers and contributors to these forums are like me,,,,,, members of the "Over the Hill Gang" and the old eyes aren't as keen as they used to be.

Black text on this OD Green background are just very hard to read, because of the low contrast between the text and the background.

Most web pages are set up with Black text on a light blue, light gray or white background For HIGH Contrast and much easier on our old eyes.

I had a similar problem with the basic screen on the Commodore 64.  It had light blue text on a darker blue background.  Now that was really hard on the eyes.  I edited the Kernal ROM chip to change the colors to yellow on a Dark Blue background and then burned my own chips.  Yellow on dark blue looks WHITE.  I know, its an optical delusion, but hey, it worked.

I love this forum, but it sure as heck is hard to read.

Wuv yous guys, ;)
