Title: New IP May Require DNS Flush
Post by Rad on Jun 4th, 2007 at 10:16pm
The site received its dedicated IP today.

I had to do the following in order to access the forum:

Windows XP:
a. go to start > run
b. type: cmd [enter]
c. at the prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns
d. close the command prompt window.

I know it doesn't help anyone who can't reach the forum anyway.

But maybe you'll understand what's happening.

Don't know when the change with the dedicated IP address took place, but I've been able to access the board all day today without any issues--no special procedure needed like you outlined!!!

LP sent the email last night ~7:30, so they musta assigned it shortly before.

i got mail reporting weird problems (none of which i can replicate), such as this one:

Hi,

I'm getting redirected to http://www.lunarpages.com/ when I browse to http://partition.radified.com.  This only happens in Firefox (currently using v2), not in IE7.  I can however browse to http://partition.radified.com/partitioning_2.htm ok.  Very strange indeed.  My IP address is static and it's 58.106.xxx.xxx.

thanks
Raymond

I asked him:

weird indeed.

what about the index page?

http://partition.radified.com/index.html

His reply:

index page is fine in both ie and firefox.  so is http://partition.radified.com/partitioning.htm

Just to report in I have had not problems logging in or staying online in this forum at any time of my day or night.  Great forum, wished I had found it earlier.

Just in passing my maintenance includes DNS flush < ipconfig /flushdns>  daily.

Manually, all Antispyware/malware programs are run manually, EXCEPT Antivirus.

Because I follow Crow's program, a most highly respected volunteer on TC.

Any good reason for "no dns flush, tho"?
