I think you can run "msconfig" from a command line and choose which programs are enabled or disabled at startup.

One of my main complaints about symantec products is that they assume they can take over your computer.  I wish they would give us CLEARLY STATED OPTIONS at installation.

I agree.

Your suggestion helped. I can turn off the automatic loading of Ghost services. However, GhostTray.exe still launches and now gives an error that the services have not started. Any tips on how to stop this from loading automatically?

A nice free utility is the Startup Control Panel program that allows you to easily see what is loaded and run at startup.  You can temporarily (or permanently) disable the Ghost tray icon application.

Also consider using the free Sysinternals’ utility AutoRuns, which is excellent.

Norman,

With Ghost 9 I used to disable GhostTray.exe in msconfig. This stops the icon showing in the system tray.

I suggest opening Ghost/options/tray icon/uncheck "show system tray icon".
Just out of interest, if you disable Ghost you will not have an up to date backup if your HD fails?  That would worry me!  :o
