I moved your question to this forum because it appears to be a DOS based Ghost question.

Will need more specific details in order to answer your question(s):

1.  What version of Ghost?

2.  After launching Ghost, in the drop down menu for either source or destination partitions--how are your two partitions listed--by a drive letter or by a drive # + a partition # (i.e. 1:1, 1:2)?

3.  Are both partitions NTFS?

4.  What is the error # and the text of the error message?

5.  Post the contents of your *config.sys*, *autoexec.bat*, and the command line your are attempting to use.

You can find examples of command lines at the end of this FAQ:  Switches: Cloning

And, there are examples in the various Ghost User Guides--see page 166, *Cloning Switch Usage*, in the Ghost 2003 Guide, as well as page 170, *Examples of cloning switch usage*:  Ghost 2003 User Guide

Other Ghost version Guides have similar discussions.

Once we have more details, we can trouble shoot the command line issue(s).

Looks like your system has another hard drive that is seen before your boot HDD...being as the one you're working with is 2:1, and 2:2.

From the reference above (Switches:  Cloning):

Quote:
MODE=PLOAD or MODE=PRESTORE

NOTE: When the location of the image file is not a tape device, the SRC parameter requires the partition number even when the source image file has only one partition. That is, when the source image file contains more than one partition, use the partition number to specify which partition you want to write to the destination partition. When the source image contains only one partition, use the numeral 1.

All disk images contain at least one partition. For instance, when a computer has two physical hard drives, one labeled C and the other labeled D and E, the first drive is one partition and the second drive has two partitions. Similarly, a disk image of the first hard drive, C, contains one partition.

For example, when a disk image file contains only one partition and you want to write the disk image from a CD-ROM to the first partition of a two partition disk, use the following command line:

ghost.exe -clone,mode=pload,src=D:GHOSTIMAGE.GHO:1,dst=1:2

Here's your command line:

Quote:
ghost.exe -clone,mode=pload,src=%2\xp.gho:2,dst=2:1 -ntil -sure -batch -rb

Try:

ghost.exe -clone,mode=pload,src=2:2\xp.gho:1,dst=2:1 -ntil -sure -batch -rb

Let us know if that helps!

Why not try it from a FAT32 partition ????
here is an example which worked for me with win98 and windows XP

Are you launching Ghost from the USB key on the successful computer?

What's different about the system that's working vs the one that's freezing?

There can be a multitude of USB compatibility issues to possibly trouble shoot!

Maybe!?  Depends on the system and what the problem might be.

resolve the issue, the problem with ghost were if you have STATA hard drive and it's in normal mode it will not work, so you can change it to legacy mode and it will work.
