I have a Dell laptop that I have connected a Sony 840u DvD burner : external usb.
I want to image the laptop directly to the DvD burner and can not do it.

Why not and what is the best way for me to image this thing.

Boot in with the ghost 2003 cd ( it is bootable)
from the menu choose
usb 1.1

does ghost see your USB drive ??? as destination

the best way is to buy a second internal hard drive (they're pretty cheap these day), and image to that. It will go way faster than to a DVD, especially an external USB DVD. See here:

I will try the usb again. Can I connect to another computer using a usb cable.

you need a cross over RJ45 cable to connect 2 PCs
and this Bootable Cd with drivers and ghost on root of Cd in a folder called ghost for Peer to Peer connection.
