Title: ISO Conversion program
Post by zmdmw52 on Jun 17th, 2008 at 6:50pm
Does anyone know of a good ISO (to & from ISO archives) conversion program?
Specifically looking for a freeware/OS (open source) program, not paid ones such as UltraISO, WinISO, etc.
PS-
7-zip will read from, but not convert to .iso file.

I've never tried it, but tech-recipes usually doesn't steer me wrong.

You may now use the drive letter as if it were a local CD-ROM device. When you are finished you may unmount, stop, and remove the driver from memory using the driver control.

How does one do that? ('unmount, stop & remove driver from memory using driver control'):question

It is an option from within the program.  You have to install it.

A FREE program I found works like a champ to burn ISO's.
It's called "Active ISO".  Nothing I've ever used is so quick and easy.
I found it here:

There are some other (FREE) programs there that you might also be interested in downloading.

Good Luck,

Maybe I misunderstood zmdmw52's request.  It looks to me like the recommendations will read existing iso images, but I thought he already had that covered with 7-Zip.  It sounds to me like zmdmw52 is also looking to either convert the content from an existing CD to an iso image, or perhaps build a custom iso image from his own batch of files.  (Two different things ... not sure which he wants to do.)

For building iso's from a collection of your own files, I use a Microsoft freebie, cdimage.exe.  It's not open source, AFAIK, but at least it's free.

(I assume we're talking Windows here.)

That's right, was looking for a program to edit (add new files to &/or remove files from) .iso archives.

Active ISO is shareware (14 day trial). Using UltraISO (full version), works well.
