Ghost 12 mentions a scan for viruses and a check for disk space errors. prior to restoring a backup, and states that both tasks start in the Analyze panel Can you direct me to the panel, and tell me if the tasks are performed on the drive containing the backup or the drive that will contain the restoration? Thank you.

dajudge,

You are referring to pages 134 onwards in the userguide. The scan for viruses is an abbreviated NAV scan of the OS partition. The scan for errors is a chkdsk. (of any partition)

Apart from seeing what these functions did, I never used them again. For a standard restore, I'd forget they existed.

Brian: Thank you for your reply. I would still like to know whether the Analyze panel referred to on page 134, et seq. of the User’s Guide is on the Norton Ghost program or the Symantec Recovery Disk, or somewhere else, and whether the tasks are performed on the backup drive or the recovery drive. I hope someone can provide me with the answers.

The Analyze panel is in the Recovery Environment.
