Title: Ghost 2003 Hangs...
Post by matty on Nov 5th, 2008 at 7:19pm
I have searched for the answer to this to no avail.
I have a norton boot floppy to run ghost through DOS.
Now it's worked fine in the past so i dont know what is the matter with it.
It loads up.. comes to the screen where a blurb about something would be and it just hangs. Its the massive grey box on a blue background and that is it. It's really frustrating because i need to do a partition to partition.

I'll also add that i installed ghost 2003 via CD and ran the DOS application through the advanced tools.. and still although with that i do get the mark these drives for use with ghost or whatever it said, and after that it hangs in the same place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, im kinda desperate.

This is where you need to help us all out--only you know your exact system!

What has changed since the last time you were able to use Ghost on the floppy disk?

Are you using it on the same system--or are you trying to use on a different system?

What hardware changes have occurred--added something--especially new HDDs, USB devices, and/or optical writers?

The only new thing i have on my pc is an external hard drive. Everything is exactly the same, i only have a select number of programs installed on my pc each time i run the partition to partition. I'm gonna try turn the external hard drive off and try it again.

One of the first things Ghost has to do is evaluate all of the attached drives.
If it can't properly read a drive type, it will hang.
That is exactly what happened with Ghost 2003, build 754 and the new AMD 939 and AM2 type motherboards.  Ghost 2003, build 793 was required to overcome this problem.

You just said Ghost, and you didn't tell us all about your system and what version of Ghost (what build) you're using.
To get the proper answers, you must tell us EVERYTHING you can about what you're doing and how you're doing it and on what system you're doing it on.  The answer is in the details.

What version of Ghost are you using and what is the build number?
Run this from the dos prompt on your Ghost boot disk, to get the build number:
Ghost.exe /ver

Good Luck,
The Shadow  8-)
