Title: Bootable Ghost Restore DVD using SATA Optical Drive Post by mikemelancholic on Jan 2nd, 2009 at 3:21pm
I'm trying to make a bootable Ghost restore disc for a system that only has a SATA DVD-ROM. I've been successfully making restore DVDs for a couple years, but this is the first time I've tried making one for a system that has a SATA optical drive. When this disc boots, DETECTCD of course can't find the DVD drive. Is there any way to get this to work?

Is this an impossible task?

Hi Mike,
In many bios's there is a setting to make SATA devices look like IDE devices. Do you have such a setting and is it set to IDE emulation? The motherboard should be able to treat a SATA CD drive just like it would an IDE CD drive, as far as booting the system. I would think Ghost would do likewise. Cheers mate! Shadow 8-) |
