Title: NEWBIE - Need help with Ghost Boot Disk Post by Jimbosw007 on Mar 25th, 2009 at 2:07pm
Hello - I have some questions about the boot disk: The newest version (comes with Ghost Suite 2.5).
1) HOW CAN I change the disk assignment (for the CD) during the boot up? I can't use the Deploy Anywhere because the CD drive turns out to be the C: drive on the boot disk. When I try and run the EVAL I am supposed to put the CD drive letter in AND the C: drive where I want the install to take place but they are the same ! 2) HOW CAN I change the properties of the log in in my DOS commands (Bat file) so the PASSWORD doesn't show the letters during input ? Here is my BAT file: START.BAT: set path=%path%;x:\ghost x: cd \ghost rem --- This will create primary OS drive configuration --- ghost32.exe /setosdrives /blind >> x:\ghost\startlog.txt @echo off echo "Enter user name " set /p UserName= echo "Enter password" set /p Password= net use P: \\perseus\img /user:%UserName% %Password% start ghost32.exe 3) IS THERE A WAY to change the Default on the boot disk? When I boot up and the Ghost GUI comes up it defaults to the X: drive in the GUI...I'd like it to go right to my Server P: drive that we used our credentials to log in to. Any guidance would be very appreciated... I hope I explained the questions alright but if not let me know.... Jimbo |

If you're loading *ghost32.exe*--you are not using a DOS boot disk! Ghost32.exe is the version of Ghost that is designed to run from a DOS prompt from within Windows--so you're not exactly asking a question about a *DOS based boot disk*--but more a *batch file* to be run under some form/flavor of Windows. But, to answer your question--Google is your friend: hide input of password in batch file Hiding user input in a Batch File Let us know if that works! Regarding other issues with GSS 2.x, you might find more experienced folks with that here: Symantec Ghost Solution Suite (GSS) support forum |

To use Ghost32.exe, I just put the program on my desktop and run it from there. NO batch files or dos prompts are needed.
It opens the ghost window on my screen and I run it just like I did Ghost 2003 from a boot floppy. NO Problemo! 8-) |

WOW, this thread died a quick death. ::)
I'd be curious to know if the author of this thread was able to 'fix' his problem. :-/ |
