Title: Something Odd ??
Post by ckcc on May 18th, 2009 at 10:29am
I normally use the backspace key to go back to previous web pages... but lately I have noticed something strange that only happens here in the rad forum.

If i start from the forum home and go to a board, then choose a topic, after reading it I backspace and it takes me back to the board (normal). but when I backspace again to get to the home page it takes me forward to the topic I just read. If I use the back button in IE then it works as expected.

So far this is only happening here and I just recently noticed it... a few weeks ago maybe. at first I was using IE7 in vista when I noticed it but later installed IE8 and is still happening. I have not tested in any other browsers or OS. Was just wondering if anyone else could reproduce this and if maybe it is something with YaBB causing it.

Ok, I went to the YaBB forums and tested and backspace works fine there.

I have 4 other computers here at home besides my laptop, all with a mix of xp & vista, IE 7 & 8. I could not reproduce the problem on any of them.

So I got to thinking.... and decided to try deleting temp internet files.... and so far the problem seems to be solved!!

It had been driving me nuts but just not enough to troubleshoot it until now.

:)

I am always interested in quirks the forums/site may be generating.

Nice troubleshooting.

Ok, it's still doing it, works sometimes, other times doesn't. It's nothing worth spending much time on any way. just wondered if anyone else has seen this. doesn't do it in firefox either. seems to just be something with this laptop and IE. oh well.
