Title: Air Bubbles in My Hard Disk?
Post by Pleonasm on Jun 6th, 2009 at 1:53pm
Yesterday, while waiting in a check-out lane at an office supply store, I overheard the clerk who was attempting to help a customer.  The customer complained of some unspecified pop-up error message appearing on his PC, to which the clerk replied:  “Oh, you need to defrag your hard disk drive.  It gets out the air bubbles.”

Who knew?  Defragmentation of a hard disk drive removes those nasty air bubbles!   ;D

HaHa.  Can you imagine?

I've heard lots of similar things at Fry's Electronics.  You'd think the salesmen there would have some knowledge, but don't count on it!

To me, that's the hard thing about computers.  Everyone thinks they are an expert.  Or, they know nothing and don't want to know anything.  There's no in-between.  Computer users like the one's on this forum, who know they can always learn something new, seem to me to be a small minority.

Air bubbles!!  Of course!  So that's the occasional "pop" sound I sometimes hear when little things pop up in the lower right corner of the screen.  I always thought they were called balloons, but those are BUBBLES!

Oh, so the internet is no longer the most accurate and definitive source for troubleshooting information!
