Title: Ghost 2003 on Dell Latitude 630 & newer Post by e-terry on Nov 2nd, 2009 at 7:47am
I've been using Ghost 2003 configured on a bootable CD using PCDOS and the output image going to an external USB mass storage device (hard drive) for years. I have been able to perform images from Dell notebooks Latitude D600 and D620 by configuring the BIOS. It appears now that I have "upgraded" to Dell Latitude 630 & beyond I can no longer get ghost to recognize the external USB mass storage device by configuring the BIOS. I suspect it has something to do with how the USB hub/subsystem is configured initially by the BIOS since I was able to get previous Latitude notebooks to work by BIOS reconfiguration, however I don't know what to do or try anymore. Any ideas? Thanks, e-terry :-/

What *reconfiguration* of the BIOS was needed to make things work? How did you create the bootable CD? Build it from scratch--or create a bootable floppy disk first and then use an *authoring* optical disc program (such as Roxio or Nero) to create the bootable optical disc? Did you use the Ghost DOS USB drive drivers included with Ghost 2003--or was the BIOS of the above Dell systems taking care of mounting and making available for DOS to assign a DOS drive letter to the external USB drives in DOS? |
