I had a wonderful old XP machine and ruined it with Vista. Bought new PC. Tried to move Ghost 14. Won't work with W7.

Put it back on old machine. Right? Wrong. Same CD. Same PC. Will not load. Looks for non-existant drives or asks for Disk 1. There is only one disk and it is in the bay!. Tried to restore to point before unloading NG14. No go. Will not work.

Any clues? My wife would like to use this PC. :-[

Disk in, Norton menu up. Hit INSTALL. After a period of time, error screen: %1 is not a valid Win32 application

For this you boot from the Ghost CD. There is no INSTALL choice. What went wrong with the restore?

No restore problem was evidenced, but Ghost would not work. I will try booting from NG14.......

Brian,

Simple problem. NG14 was on this PC. I got a new PC and uninstalled NG14 from the old one to add to the new one.

W7 & NG14 are not compatable. So I reinstalled NG14 to old PC. Will not install. Even though it was on the PC before and it is legal and same disk, I cannot put it back onto the PC.

As for the restore, that worked (PC Vista restore to earlier point - like before removing NG14) as far as MS was concerned, but NG14 would not work.

So, I am stuck.

Thanks. I thought you had restored a Ghost image. That's what I'd do. Restore an image to a date when Ghost was working properly on your old computer.

If you don't have an image I suggest using the Norton Removal Tool and then see if Ghost installs.
