Title: "Attempt to handle too many NTFS attributes"
Post by asker on Aug 24th, 2010 at 1:28pm
Hello,

I am using Norton Ghost 12.0 12.0.0.20352 and external 'Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus' 250 gig hard drive.

The hard drive has room for one more 86696 MB Partition.

I am trying to image a HP laptop that has a 100 GB hard drive with only 57 gigs used.

The hard drive already has two NTFS primary partitions both of which contain drive images using Norton Ghost.

I have tried partitioning the remaining space as both Primary and Logical NTFS but...

Norton images the hard drive then comes up with an error that says, "Attempt to handle too many NTFS attributes".

Also, the partition ends up losing its drive letter and reverts to an asterisk.

I can see all the files on the partition and it looks like they are all there but it is impossible to access them.

Can anyone tell me what this means? I did a search on this forum and elsewhere but can not find any clues.

Thank you very much.

It's not quite your situation but I would delete and recreate the partitions on the external HD. Which partitioning software are you using? Which OS?
