Recently I created image using Seagate Discwizard resulting in a single 4.7GB file on one drive, and repeated same image creation saved to a different drive again resulting in a single 4.7GB file.  Then subsequent  images created all result in a 3.99GB file plus one or more other files never exceeding the 3.99GB size.  Has anyone else experienced this or know a way to have it always create a single file regardless of size?

I haven't use the SeaGate DiscWizard program so I can't comment from experience--but, most of the Ghost programs allow for controlling the image file size--does the DiscWizard program have such an option?

Isn't the Seagate program, like the Maxtor program just a free version of Acronis True Image?
At one time, it was.  I've used them both.
So whatever works with ATI, should also work with the Seagate program.

The 4.7 gig file size would make it possible to store that file on a DVD.  A larger file could only be stored on a Hard Drive, making the program less flexible.  Just a thought...... ::)

I see no such option to control file size in Discwizard.  BTW I repeated image creation on another system resulting in 2 consecutive images of the same partition 9GB in size, but a third creation of that same image resulted in 2 files of 3.99GB and 1 file of 1GB.  Discwizard appears to create 1 or more images of a particular partition and then reverts to the 3.99GB files plus another file of a size less than 3.99GB necessary for the image backup.

Discwizard as well as Maxtor's Maxblast are limited free versions of of Acronis True Image, and it displays "Powered by Acronis" when Discwizard is launched.

Hmmmm...I would find that result troubling!  The original backup sizes were 9 GB, but the next one was 3.99 + 1 GB--that doesn't add up!  The newer multi-file image backup is around 4 GB smaller than the original!!!!

Any explanation?

The 9GB backup had two files at 3.99GB and one at 1GB (3.99+3.99+1).

For the backups being split at 3.99GB, are they being saved to a FAT32 partition? 4GB is the maximum file size supported in FAT32.

Just checked to find the larger single file backups were saved to NTFS partitions, and the backups that were split into smaller files were indeed saved to FAT32 partitions.  Mystery solved!
