Title: Converting USB Flash Drive yo NTFS
Post by U Look Like U Saw A Ghost on Apr 5th, 2011 at 7:46pm
It is not possible to format a flash drive as NTFS.

I have however, converted my flash drive to NTFS from the command prompt like this, Convert G: /FS:NTFS.

Does NTFS on a flash drive, offer any advantage?

Thank you.

Discovered that the HP Format tool recomended by Old Casper, will format flash with NTFS.

If you don't require NTFS on the flash drive, it's generally not recommended. It tends to be slower and does much more writing to the drive due to the file system (this can wear it out more quickly).

NTFS allows placing files larger than 4GB on the flash drive. Otherwise, I usually just leave them FAT32.
