Title: Ghost 14 Need RAID Driver?
Post by dbird on Mar 10th, 2012 at 1:55pm
Looks like my ghost 9 needs to be upgraded. Had to reinstall 9. Now, upgrades to 9 not available. Have v14. Need to install on XP w hardware RAID. I had to install a RAID driver for 9 to use the recovery CD.

Do Does 14 come with RAID drivers or do I need to make a special recovery CD again with the driver I need?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

The correct driver might be on the CD. If the Ghost CD recovery environment can't see your HDs you can load a driver from a USB flash drive. Once you have determined the correct driver you can create a custom Ghost CD. We suggest you create a custom ISO and then burn the CD rather than letting Ghost burn the CD directly.

Thanks for the reply. Do we have a faq on how to create the custom ghost CD? Link maybe?

Thanks again,

Dave

No FAQ but to create the ISO in Ghost click Tasks, Create Custom Recovery Disk CD, etc. Remove the tick from Burn Symantec Recovery Disk to CD/DVD. Put a tick in Save a Copy of the custom Symantec Recovery Disk (ISO file). The Gear software in Ghost which burns disks is unreliable.

To use drivers on USB.... In the SRD click Utilities, Load a Driver, browse to the *.inf on the flash drive.

Just to wrap this up...

Use the Tasks in the menu bar, not the GUI.

Choose Custom, not Automatic to get the removable tick from Burn SRD to CD/DVD.

Make sure to try out the SRD in a boot situation before having to use it when it's vital to work and may actually not.

Indeed the burn s/w is bad. Got BSD and mem dump! That was with Automatic.  :'(
