Title: Cold imaging replacement for GSS 2.5.1
Post by lunadesign on Jul 15th, 2014 at 7:12pm
I've been using GSS 2.5.1 for years for my various Windows systems.  I only use the DOS-based standalone Ghost (similar to Ghost 2003).  Can anyone recommend a good alternative for cold imaging?

@ lunadesign

Image for DOS or Image for Linux. I prefer the latter as it is faster in my computer. They produce the same image.

When you buy, you get both.

Purely out of curiosity, OK?

If you have a program that you've used for years, and it still works, why are you looking for something else. ???

I'm still using Ghost 11.5 (DOS) run from a bootable CD or Flash Drive and it backs up Everything!!!
My web master uses it to back up his SERVER, running Linux.

Ghost, to me is like and old friend and I wouldn't dream of setting up a new PC without using Ghost to make a basic install backup.

Cheers Mate!

@ OldCasper

How does Ghost 11.5 perform with UEFI systems? I haven't tested it. This is important because all computers sold with an OEM Microsoft OS have to be UEFI with Secure Boot.

I'd have to say, "Try it"

I have nothing new enough to use the new Bios replacement.
But Windows 10 installed OK on a 2006 vintage Dell laptop, if knowing that helps you at all.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Happy Holidays
