Can't store over 8 gig of my 13.6 HD
Jan 31st, 2002 at 8:50am

I know that boot system cannot be placed over the 8GIG because of the 1024|256|63 limit , but that is not my problem.

My Quantum Fireball KX 13.6gig is partitionned like that:
Partition 1: win98 (fat32) -> First 4 gig
Pt2 : fat 32 -> 3 gig
Pt3 : fat 32 -> 4 gig

The problem is that I cant store more than 1 gig of data in my Pt3 cause it tells me that my disk is full, but when I look in properties of Pt3, I see that I still have 3 gig free  ???

I have an ASUS CUSL2-C mobo and when I go in bios, i set my HD to autodetect (which is in master on the primary IDE/ no slave for the CD-rom is in master on the second) . As result, it tell me that I can have 13.6 gig in LBA mode so I think its well setted like that..  What can I do with that ?

you explain your situation well.

do you have norton utilities installed? if so, try emptying your 'protected files' from trash. sometimes it uses space without reporting.

if worse comes to worse, you could reformat the partition. that would tell you whether your problem is related to some program using space, but not reporting it.

i've had probs like this, but can't recall what i did to solve. Usually empying the trash works.
