Batch Files (.bat) in windows XP?

Do batch files run under XP running on a NTFS partition? This thing about it not supporting DOS is causing me to reconsider installing XP. I've got a great little file browser from pre-Windows days called List.com that I would hate to lose. Plus lots of batch files that do work for me. If they don't run, what do people running NTFS XP use?
Also 1) If I use a Win 98 boot disk, will I be able to see a NTFS partition from the DOS prompt?
Also 2) How does Ghost 2002 see a NTFS partition to image it to a FAT32 partition? Does the NTFS partition just show up like any other partition?
Thanks for any replies!

dos sppts neither ntfs nor wxp. it's a true 32-bit o/s, which does not include backwards compatibility to the 16-bit dos like the consumer versions of windows, such as winme & w98.
most people want ease-of-use. they don't care about cool 16-bit dos apps from yester-year.
they use explorer to browse files.
1. no, dos does not sppt ntfs .. altho there is a 3rd-party utility that allows to to see/access ntfs files from dos. The 'see' version is free. they want money for the better one that allows you to write to.
2. i'm not sure, but since we know it works, it would appear ythat it sees the raw data and not the underlying formatting. long as it works, who cares?

Thanks, I did find a few small NTFS DOS file viewers.
I take it your first paragraph means: no XP won't run batch files?
