TESTING GHOST IMAGE???
Oct 26

Hello again,
I made an image of the whole C: with OS(win2Kpro)
and put it on my physical D:
I have a 3rd HD (30GB) In an old PC I never use.
NOW
all my drives are in removable drive bays.
So I am going to pull my C: out pop the old 30giger in its place
and boot up GHOST then restore the image to the new C:
from D: and see if it works.( I cant stand not knowing!)
Will the image be OK after?
How hard is it to SPAN a large drive image?
My next image will be over 2gig.
Do I need to set it up some how?

the 640 (MB) switch makes the individuial files small enuf to fit on a (650MB) CD.
-auto names the files for you automatically.
ghost operates in dos, and dos does not sppt file sizes greater than 2GB, so ghost will automatically span images that are larger than 2GB.
this is a limitation of dos, not ghost.

HI
I tried to span my new image
it didnt do it ?????
I even went to thr OPTIONS area and turned on the 640 and the -auto
swtchs and hit the save to the ins file.
but it just gave me a big image I guess since it worked and made one image that the image was not as big as I thought it would be
Windows myComputer says the drive i am imaging is 2.7 gig
i wanted to span it so I can burn it later.

All I did was open that OPTIONS area
and I found 4 or 5 tabs I opened the one that said
span CRC or something like CRC
Then i used the little check boxes
and selelcted
the AUTO name box
and the what I thought was the span box
then i went to the SAVE tab and hit save
it confirmed it saved to some INI file.
but no worky???? Did I forget a point?

http://ghost.radified.com/screens/ghost_2002_options.gif

Looks like I needed to read this here ..
"If you run Ghost from a bootable floppy disk, edit the file Autoexec.bat on the floppy disk to add the switches to the ghost.exe entry."
