PC reboots by its self
Mar 19th, 2003 at 2:07pm

A while back I had a big hd FRY!
So I got info on Ghost so it wont happen again

And everything seems great!
BUT ever since I set up my new HDs 2 80 gigers one partitioned as 2 drives

I get this error
I am just surfin along and BOOM screen goes black and my system reboots all by its self!
then when the WIN2k pro windows loading screen comes up it stops and has a big message
"checking drive D for inconsistentsies!
and it does its thing and starts loading win2k and were good for a few weeks then it does it again

whats it all about?

I have one drive as NTF and other as FAT32 is that bad ?
Its the only way I could ghost i thought

ghost v2003 will now write images to ntfs partitions.

random spontaneous reboots are the worst, but at least you're not getting them that often.

the subsequent disk scan is normal after a spontaneous reboot.

no way to know for sure.

just guessing, i'd say, try a new psu. how many watts is your current one rated for? (i use a 430-watt enermax)

perhaps you have dirty power that a ups might fix:

i have the back-ups 650:

is everything else the same as before?

i had a similar problem once after loading a proprietary version of internet explorer that was given to me by my cable company (cox). the bad thing was that i couldn't un-install it.

this might help:

I have the same problem. I will be in the middle of copying a mix I just recorded from one folder to another, or opening a program and out of nowhere BAMMMM my computer reboots. Sometimes it checks the second drive sometimes it doesn't. I have two drives one 20g and a 40g with the 40g holding all of the data.

I recently tried to reformat and re-install win2k but now my floppy won't read any disk. And when I am in win2k, any floppy that I try to open up will not read. I get the "disk is not formtted, do you want to format disk now??" error!!

What is going on??? This is rerally weird. I used to be able to boot into DOS from a win98 boot disk with both of my drives running NTFS. Yes you read right, I used to be able to boot to DOS and run fdisk, chkdsk and all of that.  But now my floppy drive won't even READ a disk. I even installed a NEW Floppy Drive too.

What am I doing wrong?

Win 2k
Soyo K7VTA Pro
20g Maxtor
40g WD
Mark Of The Unicorn Sound Card
Jetway (P.O.S) Video Card
