What do You mean by deleting?

I just do a shift-delete to bypass the Recycle Bin. Since I also use Norton Protection, I purge protected files to consolidate free space.
The next time I create an Image, the space of the previous one will be overwritten.

If You mean to destroy all traces, then Wipe Info, a utility in NSW could be used but then You shouldn´t delete the Image before hand.

Norton Ghost includes GDISK which can wipe partitions or whole drives.

A format rebuilds the File Allocation Table and checks the disk surface. If quick format it only rebuilds the FAT. It does not wipe the information off the disk.
