Bootable dvd with two floppy set
Dec 13th, 2005 at 9:49pm

Does anyone here know of a way of creating a ghost 8.2 enterprise bootable restore dvd using the two floopy set created by ghost. I have had no problems in the past when there was only a single boot floppy, just can't figure it out with the two disk set. What am I missing??
Thanks in advance for all replies.

Chris,
I'm not exactly sure if it will answer your question but it looks like it might...see the thread that I started below "Newbies ... Ghost"
I was just concerned with how to generate a good boot CD but I think that Nightowl has answered your questions in that thread.

It sounds like you have a floppy drive available--if *yes*, it's easy:

1.  create the two floppy boot set--it has to have *CD/DVD support* as part of the DOS drivers being loaded
2.  boot using the floppy boot set--usually Ghost boots automatically after inserting the second floppy
3.  quit Ghost back to the A:\ prompt
4.  restart Ghost with this command line:  *ghost -ghostoncd*
5.  set you backup image and designate the DVD as the destination
6.  Ghost should ask if you want to make the DVD bootable--indicate *yes*, and supply the first floppy of the two disk set when asked for the boot disk
7.  complete the image creation

You will have to watch when booting to see what drive letter is assigned to the DVD drive--at the A:\ prompt, switch to the optical drive--*ghost.exe* should be in the root directory of the optical drive bootable disc.

Start Ghost by typing *ghost -ghostoncd* again if you plan on creating another bootable CD or DVD.

Report back how it goes for you.

No question is stupid...but, possibly the answers are  Wink !

thanks for the quick replies. Just to clarify, I want to use an existing image that was created using a multicast session. This will change things as I am not writing directly from ghost to the dvd  drive.
Is the operation similar doing it this way? thanks in advance.

What have you done in the past that worked--and where are you stuck now?

What software and steps are you taking that are not working?

nightowl,

In the past we have used ghost 7.5 enterprise. When using 7.5 the boot disk is one disk rather than 2., this is where the problem lies. Can't figure how to make a bootable disk containing ghost using the 2 floppies.

I'm assuming you are using a burning program--which one?

Post the content of *config.sys* and *autoexec.bat* from the first of the two boot floppies here.
