Boardfish Picks Up Symantec Forums ??
Jan 29th, 2006 at 6:19pm

I just found this posting at symantec.customerservice.general newsgroup.

I have no other information about the group; looks like another support group trying to fill the gap left by Symantec.

Subject: Boardfish Picks Up Symantec Forums

If you're a user of any Symantec, Veritas or BindView product, the founding members of Boardfish.com would like to let you know about our Symantec-dedicated website for user-to-user support.

Boardfish.com was founded last month when Symantec closed the managed enterprise support forums. Currently there are over 50 online forums with close to 200 registered members helping each other out. We hope you'll join in the discussions at: www.boardfish.com.

Ghost4me, I learned of the Boardfish forum a few weeks ago.

Since that time, there have been very few discussion topics on the forum combined with a low degree of visits.  The inference is that there is not a 'crying need' for a Symantec forum, and that's probably the rationale behind Symantec's action to close its own forum.

back when i first heard about ghost (from a user named 'ducky' - version 5.1c, i think it was ~'98 ), you couldn't *buy* info about ghost.

i made *dozens* of posts at various forums around the 'net. all went unanswered.

i read the entire manual offer by symantec, which helped precious little.

i had to learn everything the hard way .. by trial-n-error.

but i started to get a handle on the program .. which led to emails & posts at various bulletin boards.

got tired of writing the same thing over-n-over, so i copied-n-pasted the steps into a web page (which is now 15 web pages).

that was nearly 6 years ago.

since then, other sites have followed suit. you can find many places that offer help with ghost .. some of them copying my guide word-for-word. (what's that they say about imitation being the highest form of flattery...?)

but i still think we represent (by far) the best source of info for ghost users, from a variety of
experienced
users.

google seems to agree.

I couldn't agree more.  I am so thankful that I found this forum last year.  It's been an immeasurable help to me.  I've learned a lot about Ghost 2003, 9, and 10.

I noticed from the Google search that the Radified Guide showed up 2nd in the list!! Congratulations.

If I could make one
small
suggestion it would be this:  On the http://ghost.radified.com/ Google linked page, could you put some obvious url/link to
"See the Ghost Support Forum"
in the top left or top right of the page.  A visitor to that page alone might not immediately guess that beyond the 15 page tutorial is a support forum.

Good idea.

Done:

You are encouraged to make whatever suggestions you deem worthy, as I am only one person, and therefore have limited perspective.

Rad, you are to be congratulated for creating a resource that benefits the PC public.

In my opinion, this forum distinguishes itself not only by the quality of the advice provided, but also by the professionalism of those who contribute on a regular basis.  There is a great deal of mutual respect, honesty and humility exhibited in the posts which makes the forum a refreshing choice as compared to other alternatives.

Again, thank you for exhibiting leadership in this way, and helping to build a community where we all learn – and, hopefully, where we also contribute a few helpful hints along the way.
