GetFileTypeDistribution program
Mar 19th, 2006 at 2:50pm

In several threads in this forum, I have pointed folkes to http://www.st....

This program is useful for comparing real hard drives with th evirtual drives created by backup programs such as True Image.

However, the Visual Basic interface to the Windows API for returning file sizes does not work correctly for file sizes abouve about 2^31.

So, I've found a workaround that seems to work.

In addition, I've added an option that makes it easier to compare drives/paths.

In effect, this is a mandatory update.

Users who are interested in "comparing real hard drives with the virtual drives created by backup programs" may wish to consider the FolderMatch utility.  FolderMatch is a tool that allows a user to compare files/folders/drives and easily note the differences in an attractive and highly functional interface.

The utility permits a comparison, for example, of a mounted Ghost 9/Ghost 10 recovery point to the original source drive using eight different methods:  Filename Only, Size Only, Size and Date/Time, Contents, Attributes, Version Stamp, CRC32, and SHA-1.
