Ghost 2003: starting with a new drive
Jun 16th, 2006 at 12:08pm

Hello,
I have Ghost 2003 and want to back-up to a newly purchased hard drive. In order to get Windows to recognize the new drive, do I need to format? My primary disk in WinXP in NTSF partitioning.

Depends on your meaning of *back-up*!

If you wish to store an *image file* of the original HDD on a new HDD, then you need to partition and format the new HDD first.

If you were planning on *cloning* the original HDD to the new HDD, then Ghost will *duplicate* the partitioning and format of the original to the new.

So, depends on what you're trying to do.
