Norton Ghost 10 problems

Hi, I'm a new member and looking for help with some serious Ghost V.10 issues. Quite simply when I recover individual files they don't work. For example recovering an .mdb file gives "incorrect database format error". What is going on? I thought this program was the biz! Have tried several recovery points and all with the same result. Any resolution/suggestions gratefully received.

Searchus_Maximus,
Which method are you using to extract files from your backup images (recovery points)? Apart from .mdb files, which other files don't work? Are .jpg, .mp3, .doc, .xls files OK?

Hi Brian, I have also tried a test receovery of Outlook.pst. That didn't work either. I have tried these recoveries via the tray icon "Recover My Files", selecting usually the most recent recovery point and then the individual file. Haven't tried .jpg or any program files as I just recently installed Ghost V10 and wanted reassurance that my data files were okay especially 2 x MDB files.

Could you try extracting files from a mounted image. Right click the recovery point in Windows Explorer and click Mount. Still corrupted?

Magic Brian!! Many thanks. Have tried mounting three different recovery points and all the .mdb files work. Didn't even know you could do that! Great relief. Again, many thanks from Dublin, Ireland.

That was a lucky guess of mine. I think my long past relatives are from Dublin. I'd love to visit some day.

You're welcome any time! Just bring a rain mac. Wonder why Ghost doesn't restore via normal mode. Anyway, not to worry; as long as it works in some mode I don't care.

I don't know. It is strange that one way works and the other doesn't. I haven't needed to extract a file from an image for two years so naturally I haven't seen a problem. I do however perform frequent restores so I find your problem intriguing.
