Hung myself?  Password rejected.  Win98

The computer was part of domain CALV.

I changed it to be part of workgroup WORKGROUP

I rebooted the computer and it is asking me for a password.  The CALV password no longer works.  Using NO password doesn't work.

What shall I do?

Thank you.

cardinal23,

I guess you wouldn't be posting if you had a backup image. Does pressing ESC allow you to bypass the logon window?

Yep!
Pressing ESC lets you in while using no ID and no PW doesn't let you in.  Now that's a trick worth remembering.  I love Radified.com.  It is so terrific.  Thank you!

Although ESC lets you complete the Windows 98 boot process, it doesn't connect you to your network or workgroup resources, or password resources.  So you will likely have to set them up again.  Or go into the Control Panel and reset and/or redefine your Windows password.

You guys (as if there were a core "you guys" - but whoever you are, wherever you are, it is a burden to fully-express how grateful I am for you.  Sound silly?  You know it isn't.

I can't help it.  I know I probably sound silly - but, oh well....

THANK YOU RADIFIED eCOMMUNITY.

After bubbling like a drunken dope, I realized I still have a question....
My original issue (look above) was to change a laptop from being part of a domain to part of a workgroup.  It sort of worked.  The other computer(s) in the workgroup can see this changed-laptop, but it can't see them.

My guess is we have a firewall issue here.

Okay...more info, please....

What firewall(s) are you using?  Same on all systems--or different?

How are you networked together--router, hub, switch...?

How is each network card being assigned it's IP address--static, dynamic by a router...?
